If you have paid the requisite number of quarters or qualify through Railroad retirement or other qualifying conditions Medicare Part A is free. It is the part of Medicare that covers hospital care and many of its expenses.
What does Part A Coverage include?
Part A does not cover long term custodial care nor home services to anyone who is not certified by a physician to be homebound.
Nor will it pay for home services like meals delivered to hom, cleaning or home maker services or personal care like bathing.
It will not cover the cost of a private room, private skilled nursing care or expenses for telephone or television if they are a separate charge.
The bulleted list below refers to a benefit period which begins with your admission and ends when you have not gotten any inpatient care for 60 days.
As with all information provided here any additional questions can be answered by going to medicare.gov the Traditional Medicare website.
